This set of six colors was developed by artist Liz Steel, as an excellent starter palette of watercolors. It’s not only perfect for the beginner, but also for the artist who wants to upgrade to the DANIEL SMITH brand of watercolors, or the traveling artist who needs a good basic portable set for plein air and sketching days. A set of six half-pans is an excellent value to get started – it’s less expensive than the tubes and perfect for gift-giving!
The colors in the Sketcher Set were carefully chosen for their ability to mix beautifully, making gorgeous and useful secondary colors, as well as huge spectrum of other colors. Liz felt it was important to feature two slightly different groups of the three primary colors for the best color mixing – a “bright” triad and an “earth” triad.
This set was designed to work well with whatever add-on colors you might choose later to personalize your palette to paint your favorite subjects. The box includes 9 empty half pans which you can fill yourself from DANIEL SMITH watercolors in the tube.
Daniel Smith Pans are hand-filled in 3 phases in a process that lasts from 3 to 4 months and that guarantees the perfect settling, drying, consistency and rapid rewetting capacity.
The kit includes a Daniel Smith watercolor travel box with 15 godets (pans), 6 with Sketcher selection colors and 9 empty godets. The set contains a primary triad for mixing bright colors and an earth triad to make creating browns and muted colors faster and easier.
