Procion MX is a range of fabric dyes with unique properties, created to fill a major gap in textile dyeing. Thanks to their special formulation, they chemically bond with the fiber itself — they are fiber reactive — and do not require heat setting like most traditional dyes. They form strong covalent bonds with cellulose fibers, delivering permanent results and clean, vibrant color on natural fabrics.
They do not require boiling or hot water to activate. Procion MX dyes dissolve easily in tap water at room temperature, producing intense and stable color while helping protect even delicate fabrics from shrinkage or distortion.
The Burgundy shade is a deep, wine-toned red with rich burgundy undertones 🍷 It adds depth and elegance to techniques such as ice dyeing and shibori, while also performing beautifully in solid dyeing, gradation and ombre applications. It is an excellent choice for dramatic, vintage or sophisticated palettes and pairs beautifully with golds, warm neutrals, deep greens, petrol blues and charcoal tones.
Procion MX dyes are highly durable, easy to use and suitable for natural fibers. One package contains enough dye to color more than 0.45 kg (1 lb) of dry fabric (intense colors require more dye, pastel tones less).
🔥 They are ideal for shibori, batik, ice dyeing, printing, screen printing, immersion dyeing, fabric painting, gradation & ombre techniques, sprinkle dyeing, or any other technique that requires clean, stable color on fabric. It’s no coincidence that Procion MX dyes are a favorite among macramé artists and textile designers.
