Jacquard iDye Fabric Dye 14g – Bright Yellow | Fabric Dye for Natural Fibers

Jacquard iDye for natural fibers are hot water fabric dyes designed for solid fabric dyeing. They can be used in a washing machine or on the stovetop.

✔️ Before You Start

• Suitable for cotton, linen, rayon, silk and wool
• Fabric must be pre-washed and thoroughly wet
• One packet dyes approximately 2–3 lb (0.9–1.3 kg) of fabric
• Dye comes in water-soluble packaging

🌀 Washing Machine Method

Top-Loading Washer

1. Fill washer with enough hot water for fabric to move freely.
2. Add the iDye packet and allow agitation to dissolve.
3. Add:
• 1 cup non-iodized salt for cotton, linen and rayon
• ⅓ cup white vinegar for silk (instead of salt)
4. Add pre-wetted fabric.
5. Extend dye time before rinsing to reach 50–60 minutes total.
6. Let the cycle finish.
7. Wash in cold water with mild detergent and dry.

Front-Loading Washer

1. Dissolve the iDye packet in hot water.
2. Dissolve salt or vinegar separately in hot water.
3. Add solutions to the drum.
4. Add pre-wetted fabric.
5. Select high temperature and long wash cycle.
6. Complete the cycle and wash normally.

🔥 Stovetop Method

1. Fill a pot with enough water for fabric to move freely.
2. Add dye and dissolve completely.
3. Add:
• Salt for cotton, linen and rayon
• Vinegar for silk (do not pour directly onto fabric)
4. Add pre-wetted fabric.
5. Maintain a gentle simmer (~185°F / 85°C) and stir frequently for about 30 minutes.
6. Remove carefully, rinse and wash.

ℹ️ Important Notes

• More heat and time result in deeper color
• Blended fabrics will dye unevenly
• Clean washing machine after dyeing

🔶 Color is too light

Cause: low heat, short dye time, too much fabric, or missing salt/vinegar.
Fix: increase heat and time. One packet dyes about 2–3 lb (0.9–1.3 kg). Use salt for cotton/linen/rayon and white vinegar for silk.

🔶 Uneven or blotchy color

Cause: fabric not pre-washed or not moving freely.
Fix: always pre-wash fabric and use enough water with frequent agitation.

🔶 Color washes out

Cause: insufficient heat/time or fabric blends.
Fix: rinse thoroughly until water runs clear and wash separately the first time. Only natural fibers dye fully in blends.

🔶 Seams or elastic did not dye

Seams and elastic are usually polyester. iDye for natural fibers does not dye synthetics.

🔶 Two-tone results

This is expected on blended fabrics. Full coverage requires iDye Poly or separate dyeing processes.

🔶 Can colors be mixed?

Yes. iDye colors are intermixable. Testing on a sample is recommended.

🔶 Is it safe for washing machines?

Yes. Jacquard recommends cleaning the washer after dyeing with an empty hot cycle and detergent.

🔶 Why does black look greenish?

The dyebath was not hot enough. iDye requires about 185°F / 85°C for proper results.

🔶 Can I reuse the dyebath?

It is possible but not recommended, as dye balance changes and results may differ.
