Jacquard iDye are hot water fabric dyes developed for solid dyeing of natural and protein fibers. They are an excellent choice when predictable results and ease of use are essential.
The dye is supplied in water-soluble packaging, allowing it to be added directly to the dyebath without handling loose powder. iDye can be applied either in a washing machine or via stovetop dyeing, depending on the desired level of control and color depth.
Color fixation is achieved through heat, using simple assistants according to fiber type:
– non-iodized salt for cellulose fibers such as cotton, linen and rayon
– white vinegar for silk and other protein fibers
iDye dyes do not require soda ash or complex chemical activators and are intended for overall fabric and garment dyeing, not for surface painting or detailed textile work. One packet dyes approximately 2–3 lb (0.9–1.3 kg) of fabric, depending on shade depth.
