Watercolor paint sets are made from pigments contained within a water-based solution, so when applied, appear translucent and vibrantly colored. Watercolor sets come in two size varieties depending on the size of the paintbrushes that you use, and how portable you need them. Half-pans tend to fit better into small, travel-friendly tins that are perfect for painting on the go (because inspiration never stops!), but if you’re creating large-scale works, or you’re based more in the studio, then full pans are the best way to go.
