Clairefontaine Paint On Gris Pads are made within the Clairefontaine paper mill in Meurthe, France. The pads contain 30 pages of long natural unbleached virgin fibres, making this paper 100% natural and bio-degradable. It is also PEFC certified from sourced, recyclable materials so it is very eco-friendly and has a unique mechanical strength and flexibility. The sheets pH neutral and acid-free. Each page is 250gsm and is great for charcoal, pencils and all dry media as it retains pigments well. The paper is Grey in colour and smooth with a slight texture.
The Clairefontaine Paint On Pads are cut-edge which provides a clean edge to the paper. The cover is paperback with a cardboard back for a slightly harder surface to work on. The bind is glued in and produces a straight edge when ripped out of the pad; it can also open-flat. The book isn't too thick and is a great accessory for sketching and drawing.
We recommend that this pad is perfect for dry art techniques and works especially well with charcoal and pencils. Because it is 250gsm it is a thick weight and can easily take watercolour and other wet techniques as it retains pigments really well and is a very resistant paper so things like acrylic and gouache can be used.
