The Aitoh Shoji Gami Washi Roll is Japanese paper in roll format, made from kozo fibres. Kozo is valued for its strength and flexibility, making it suitable for traditional Japanese papers that need durability, a natural feel and a beautiful surface.
The paper is translucent, thin and lightweight, but still strong enough for a wide range of creative techniques. One side is very smooth, while the other has a more natural, slightly textured feel, giving you two different surfaces depending on the result you want.
Use it for Sumi-E, calligraphy, ink painting, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, stamping, collage and mixed media. It is also suitable for printmaking techniques such as linocut, woodblock printing, monotype and cyanotype. Because of its translucency, it works beautifully in art journals, junk journals, cards, tags and layered paper compositions where you want soft overlays without adding visual weight.
