BLOCK PRINTING / RELIEF
Block (or relief) printing is a traditional printmaking method in which an image or design is carved into the surface of a block, usually made of wood, linoleum, or another firm material. The raised areas of the design are coated with ink, while the carved-out sections remain ink-free. When the block is pressed onto paper, fabric, or another surface, the ink transfers to create a bold, distinctive image. This technique has been used for centuries in art, textiles, and book printing, and is valued for its rich textures and handmade character.
