This strong, long fiber paper has its origin in traditional Himalayan paper used since many centuries for the legal documents and religious manuscripts of Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal. It is made out of the bark of the daphne papyracea shrub which grows wild in the Himalayas. The villagers beat the bark into a pulp that is poured into a wooden mould which gives its shape to the sheet of paper. It will then be left to dry gently in the sun.
